Sometimes, students aren’t the only ones who break the rules. In anime, teachers are usually seen as valuable and reliable mentors. Although some might not teach in a traditional classroom, the nominations on this list have unconventional teaching methods that will make you question their ability to teach-and their sanity.
10) Piccolo: Dragon Ball Z
Piccolo is well known as a Namekian warrior and former enemy of Goku. After Goku dies, he offers to train Goku’s son, Gohan for a year to prepare for the upcoming threat. Piccolo’s methods of teaching, however, are something that should probably be questioned by Child Protective Services. He believes that in order to make the child stronger, he must leave Gohan stranded in the middle of nowhere for months to fend for himself.
9) Koro-Sensei: Assassination Classroom
When your teacher is the God of Death, he’s got to be doing something wrong. Koro-Sensei serves as the homeroom teacher for Class 3-E Kunugigaoka Junior High School. But behind that teacher facade, he’s on a mission to destroy the Earth and everyone on it. That, along with his pervertedness and slightly-bipolar attitude, leaves us wondering if maybe he should quit his day job.
8) Kisuke Urahara: Bleach
Want to become a corrupt spirit? Well here’s the perfect mentor for you! Kisuke Urahara is an exiled shinigami who serves as Ichigo’s sensei before the Soul Society arc. In order to make Ichigo stronger, Kisuke severs the chain that binds the teen’s soul to his body. By doing this, he knowingly puts Ichigo’s life in danger by potentially corrupting his soul. He might call it training, but here we call this child endangerment.
7) Kakashi Hatake: Naruto, Naruto Shippuden
Kakashi typically has a relaxed and almost bored attitude, not prone to getting too worked up about anything or by anyone. He tries to avoid serious commitments or responsibilities, doing only as little as is necessary and being ever-modest about his skills and capabilities. He is habitually tardy, showing up when it suits him, using excuses that convince nobody, and later leaving for equally poor reasons. Kakashi has also been seen multiple times reading adult books in front of his students.
6) Izumi Curtis: Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Here is the only female character on this list; she is one that you definitely shouldn’t judge by appearance. In fact, she is prone to swift acts of violence and is often seen dealing out physical harm. Izumi Curtis is a master alchemist and skilled martial artist living in the southern Amestrian town of Dublith where she runs a butcher shop with her husband Sig. Though she doesn’t usually take on students, Izumi accepted Edward and Alphonse Elric’s plea to take them on as her apprentices and instructed them in alchemical theory and martial arts for six months. Izumi also took the Elric brothers to Yock Island, where she gave them a large knife and informed them that they were to survive on the island alone for one month without the use of alchemy.
5) Aikuro Mikisugi: Kill la Kill
Welcome to Nudist Beach! Aikuro Mikisugi is Ryūko Matoi and Mako Mankanshoku’s enigmatic homeroom teacher. Initially appearing dull and easily flustered, he secretly observes and aids Ryuko by leading her to Senketsu. When in his true form Aikuro has a tendency to strip his shirt off and show off his body like a posing supermodel. In this modeling mode, Aikuro sports sparkles all around him. Most notably, his nipples occasionally give off a pink glow. He is a glamorous smooth-talker with a habit of slowly stripping his clothes and making moves on Ryuko whenever they are in private.
4) Franken Stein: Soul Eater
Being a man of science, Dr. Stein sees everything in the world, including himself, as an experiment. From childhood, he often wanted to dissect the people around him only to be stopped by his friend Spirit. This personality trait made all those around him afraid of him. This strange hobby of wanting to dissect anything he thinks is interesting was still present, even when Stein became an adult; once, as part of a lesson, he tried to have his class dissect an endangered animal, claiming that it would be bad if he did not find out anything from it before it became extinct. He also exhibits a sadistic and intimidating personality. During his battle against his students Maka and Black Star, he grabbed Maka by one of her pigtails, lifted her shirt up and drew marks on her body, to signify where he would put the knife through, and ponders if he should turn her skin into sand paper. It seems that this teacher has more than a few screws loose.
3) Ginpachi-Sensei (Gintoki Sakata): Gintama
Ginpachi-Sensei is introduced as a Language and homeroom teacher for a class that consists of most of the cast. Ginpachi isn’t really what you most would call a typical homeroom teacher. He carelessly smokes lollipops in front of his students and reads Shounen Jump issues while class is in session. Obviously, he’s setting a great example for his students.
2) Master Roshi: Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z
Master Roshi is an ancient and wise martial arts master and the first character to wield the trademark Kamehameha. He trained Grandpa Gohan, Ox-King, Goku, Krillin and Yamcha. Master Roshi is both the archetypal wise old man and perverted old man. He also enjoys reading, watching TV, using the internet (mainly for adult sites), playing video games and taking afternoon naps. He is a very lecherous pervert who constantly watches Wide-Thigh Aerobics on television or looks at dirty magazines in his spare time. He even accepts a bribe from Bulma, to show him her panties in exchange for a Dragon Ball early in the series (and got a very big surprise, as Bulma unknowingly was not wearing any panties when she exposed herself). Master Roshi also often makes humorous sexual advances on any beautiful woman.
1) Eikichi Onizuka: Great Teacher Onizuka
Eikichi Onizuka is a 22-year-old teacher and former notorious gang member. Eikichi is very presumptuous and vulgar which often leads him into trouble. Although he is very hormonal when it comes to girls, he is still a virgin and seems to be unable to get a girlfriend. He is often reffered to as a “pervert” and has a fetish with smelling young ladies fresh panties in their drawers. Onizuka is also unashamed of the state of untidiness of his home and the fact that many porn magazines lie around his house. When pushed to his limit by his male students, Onizuka often uses physical force to discipline them. In this case, it seems that “Great Teacher Onizuka” might not be so great after all.
I wouldn’t want these guys to be my teacher, PERIOD XD. I think I will die if I had Piccolo and Kisuke as my teachers. Kakashi reminds me of my past college professors when they show up late.

Yeah, me neither. I didn’t realize until after I had posted this that Jiraiya was a way worse teacher than Kakashi.

Oh yeah, Jiraiya is one of the worst. An old man that likes to do “research” on girls? I wouldn’t want to get entangled in his schemes.

Haha, true. No one does research like Jiraiya!

Exactly! He is actually one of my favorite characters in the anime. I like how Naruto calls him pervy sage XD.

Me too! I kinda wish I hadn’t watched Shippuden though.

Oh yeah, that moment in the anime broke my heart. I thought Asuma’s death was worse. ;_;

Ugh, that was so sad. Itachi’s death really got me though.

Definitely Itachi. I feel bad for hating him in the beginning.

At least he redeemed himself at the end.

True. It made me cry, but at least it happened.

It was probably one of the worst things that fans had to prepare for when they saw Itachi get killed.

I hate having the feeling of expecting a death. You knew somebody was going to die but you don’t want to experience the feeling of lost.

I hate it too. But for me, it’s worse when I don’t see it coming.

Oh I know that feeling to. It can surprising. This is why I don’t like surprises unless it’s something good XD.

I feel the same. XD

Haha Naruto has those moments. There are times where I just want to punch Kishimoto for killing a cool character unexpectedly. XD

Don’t we all?

True besides him. I think we all those moments where just ask the creator “why did you do this?”
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yeah, that’s a natural part of watching anime.

Oh yes definitely. I wonder what the creators are thinking after they kill off a character.

I bet they laugh with each other while thinking about our reactions.

I thought so too. They are drinking our tears with their expensive cups. lol

I can actually picture that…

They are toying our emotions with death. I heard that Eiichiro Oda, One Piece creator, cried while drawing the Going Merry Funeral.

That’s funny, because I cried while watching it.

Same here. I never thought I would cry over a ship.

Oda is something different. He knows how to make us cry and laugh at any time.

True. I still haven’t finished One Piece, but every arc finds some way to make me cry.

One Piece is not yet finished and it always surprise with those sad flashbacks. Every flashback brings pain in my heart.

I think everyone in the show just has a really sad past.

Yeah exactly. If you think about it, it helps remember that we use to have those moments in our past. It may not be as serious like them but it something we can relate. We all that moment in our life that changed us forever.

Yes we do.

Before they were strong, they were like us but they kept going. Even Luffy was a crybaby as a kid. Now he’s a guy that wants to fight the impossible.
